It just wouldn't be an EA game unless there were connection issues.  I have no idea why every other game made has little to no connection issues, but ALL EA games seem to have problems.

At any rate, the purpose of this post is not to bash EA, but rather to hopefully give some help to people that have connection issues.  As most of you know, I have very slow internet (it's all that's available where I live) yet I can connect in any game, due to lag I do not play real time shooters anymore, but I could connect just fine in them, and the same goes with Tiger, I can connect with almost anybody, and that is because I have taken the time to set up my connection the right way.  With my connection, I didn't really have a choice, but there are a lot of people playing that have connection issues simply because they have not taken the time to set up their connection the right way.

You should always open ports for the games you play, but the absolute best way to do this, is to set your PS3 on a DMZ.  I have walked a few people from this sit through it, and I'm sure they would tell you two things, first off, it's very easy to do, and secondly, it made their connection better.  As a tournament director, it would be really nice to see everybody take the 10 minutes it takes to set up a DMZ on their PS3 or 360 so that there is a better chance of them connecting and not delaying tournaments.

No one wants to sit in the lobby for 2 hours to play 3 rounds of golf, when that should be done in an hour easily.

If anybody would likehelp getting their PS3 set up on a DMZ, I would be more than willing to walk you through it via yahoo IM, it's very easy to do.  Maybe there is someone that is very familiar with the 360 that could do the same for that console.  I could help with the router stuff easily enough for the 360 side, but I have never used a 360, so I have no clue of the network set up of that machine.

Sorry for the long post, but I think we could all benefit from having our connections set up the right way, and that way we spend more time having fun instead of getting frustrated trying to get connected.

He's right. Do it. It's 100% better after setting up the DMZ.
I can even play CoD4 during the daytime (when there are are a ton of Euro's playing and hosting) lag free.

My connection isn't the greatest either. I have a 5Mb package through Time Warner:

Never done a DMZ, and never had a problem. I'm lucky.

As far as the 360 goes, as far as I know there have been no connection issues at all.

You don't.  You reset it to factory defaults and start over.

It should have a tiny little button on the back that says "reset"

I thought Jay was having some issues with Tigger?  Either way, for ps3 users at least, this is something that everyone should do.

I had connection issues on day 2 and none since. I blame OP and his hamsters in SD.  Or some kind of isolated hiccup by my ISP

Is there a thread on here somewhere that gives the basics on DMZ setup?

Actually, I think I just did it.  I went to Router site... Clicked set up DMZ server, typed in 10.0.0.10 for the address and hit apply.  Then went to PS3, manually typed in same IP address for network setup and got connected.  AM I missing anything?
