This may sound like an oxymoron...needing help using a turbo controller...but oh well...I could use some feedback.

In 05 I remember holding the turbo button down until the boost ball got to a certain look...then released the button. I even remember seeing a post with a picture of 8 golf balls from no taps to 8 taps of boost. Some years later EA changed from taps to percents...and I never have worked that one out.

My current technique:

I've been letting the ball go solid red...and then releasing the boost button as I see the red go down to get 116%, 114%, 108% and 104%...for example. It is not a sure thing yet.  Other percents pop up at random...as I have not worked out the timing yet...I guess.

Alternate technique:

If I watch the ball fill up and then release for example at half red...I get all kinds of percents.

Question: What do you guys do to nail a 114% ball...for example. Thanks.

Personaly I found that if you don't hold L1 until your back swing is at about waist high I dont get 121%(high as I've ever got).
To get say about 114%, I would just not hold for full red or shorten the back swing.

Sorry I still use the tap 1-8 times method. Only use turbo for a full ball.

Lucky, are you tapping with the six axis or a after market controller?
If you use the six axis, are you still hitting it perfectly straight?
If so, did you have to adjust the swing Bias to accomplish a straight six axis swing?
(just looking for info pertaining to possible upcoming NASC settings )

Get a Hori.. 122 is attainable on mid range turbo.  I'm getting about 120-122 most of the time depending on amount of Jack Daniels undertaken... Also, I'm not sure but I noticed the higher I got in attributes the easier it was to get 120-122... but that could just be getting the feel for the swing/turbo because it's a combination of both, 100% swing plus turbo, if your swing is only 95% then turbo gets added on to that vice perfect 100% perfect swing.   I've found that Start Swing followed by Turbo FULL, and quick come back seems to get best results.

I believe Mole is playing on a 360 so a Hori is not an option.

They make a Hori controler for the 360 but Mole is useing a Madcatz I think.Either way they do the same thing. As for the way to get the ball taps I am not sure.I just do it by feel.I just figured out how to get a consistant 120 - 122%.My advise would be to just practise offline and work on it in a stroke game or something like that Chet.Sorry I couldnt help anymore then that.

Thanks guys.  Yes. I am using a 360 Madcatz. I get 121% on any good or glitched hole everytime because I have 4 speeds of turbo. I rarely see 122%. Perhaps I grooved a 121% swing.

Swing first...engage turbo second...is one technigue I use for full power. 114% everytime is just not happening yet. I'll keep experimenting.

Question for TOUR MODE players: Is it possible to dial in different percents with the driver...like 92-96 percent? That would really help me out when 97-99 is too much. Thanks.

Just use a pause at the top of your swing.  After you've tried it for a while you will know exactly how long to pause before the downswing to reach any percentage.  I can hit any percentage in the 90's exactly and be within +/- 1% when trying to get an exact 80's percentage.  Not too tough at all.

It's all about feel Mole, for either grip n rip, or tour...I have no clue why everyone insists on not hitting turbo untill after they start their swing, I hold mine from the start and get 122% pretty much all the time if I want it, it's all in the timing of the swing, not in when you press the button.  To get different percentages I just release the button early, and how early depends on what percentage I am looking for.

Hop is exactly right on the percentage for tour as well, that's exactly how I do it, it just takes practice and feel

The pause still works? Cool!   Any percentage in the 90's...very cool.

BTW...your current avatar is...umm...one of your best uploads to date. Don't know the person...but wow.

Yes. Recently I have been pressing the turbo button first and mostly getting 121%...with a few 120's and 122's. I like my current swing tempo...as it is most consistent with preventing a shank. If I step on it for a 122...I end up shanking more.

To get full boost for me...it finally came down to picking the correct turbo speed for any given hole. If others have a multi-speed turbo controller...this may help...especially at lag courses like Pebble Beach and I think Carnoustie.

I can't play a six-axis, because I have my clubs tuned to 0% sweet spot. I shank Intecs, about once a round.

If it's Ms. Spears......then the photo prolly was taken when she was a teen. She really looked that good?

BTW...thanks HOP!!!

The pause is sooooo easy. I'm nailing 94% drives for a cartpath long drive challenge w/27-31 mph tail wind that keeps popping up at Wolf Creek 1. With no boost and hitting the cartpath...the ball sails 520+ yards. I bust the challenges by 15-20 yards easy. I have no idea why my ball goes so much further.   It hits the same spot on the cartpath. Maybe they don't use forward spin.

Anyway...you've saved me tons of time. Thanks.
